Matthew NolanMatthew Nolan was born in Sydney, New South Wales, in 1972. He grew up in Sydney and then lived in Canberra before moving to a rural property near Yass, New South Wales, as a teenager.

At age 11, Matthew started his first business – a pamphlet delivery service – which he quickly expanded by recruiting his brother and cousins. After finishing school, he went on to complete a Master’s of Applied Finance and Investment, and a Master’s of Financial Planning. He has worked in the banking and finance industry for over 17 years, including management positions with Macquarie Bank, ANZ and Westpac, and is recognised as one of Australia’s leading innovators in cash flow lending and asset finance.

Matthew is the founder and managing director of Provident Inventory Finance, Australia’s only specialist provider of inventory finance. The company assists medium-sized businesses to grow without the need for real estate security or stock pre-sales.

As a sought-after business advisor and finance industry commentator, Matthew has regular columns in over a dozen business magazines and newspapers, advising on issues such as cash flow management, business planning and diversification. Over the past year he has spoken at most major finance industry conferences, advising participants on the ever-increasing range of finance products available in Australia today.

He is currently undertaking a Doctorate of Business Administration at Macquarie Graduate School of Management, focusing on working capital in small businesses. He is also an active philanthropist, recently completing the 100-kilometre non-stop Oxfam Trailwalker.

Matthew lives in Sydney with his wife and their three boys. When he’s not working, he enjoys collecting fine Australian wine and seeking adrenaline-inducing activities, such as shark diving and parachuting.
