What are you doing to go above and beyond for your customers?

Most people work on improving their intelligence and emotional quotients. But what are you doing to improve your sensitivity quotient as a business owner?

Having a high sensitivity quotient means seeing things with your heart, adding value and taking actions that positively impact the people around you.

Elim Chew is the Founder of 77th Street, an iconic streetwear retail fashion chain in Singapore as well as a mentor for many young aspiring entrepreneurs.

This short clip was taken from our annual overseas conference in Singapore where Elim shares the importance of raising a generation of children with a high sensitivity quotient.

But make no mistake, developing a higher SQ is not just a generational issue. This is something that all businesses need to learn and work on.

Watch the video below:

After watching the video, let us know your biggest takeaway from Elim’s presentation by posting a comment on our social media channels.

I was sitting there eating and drinking and suddenly these flies came around. Then I went up to the waiter and said, “Can you get rid of the flies? Or can you kill the flies?”

They were sitting there and can you imagine they were servers, right? They were sitting there. They looked at me and said, “But we don’t know how to do it.” I said, “Yes, but you have that!” There’s this thing where you can electrify flies. The one that looks like a tennis racket. You can just hit it and can get rid of the flies. They said, “Yes, but it has no battery.” I said, “Do you know that just across the road there’s a 7/11 shop where you can get the batteries from? You can just buy it, change it and use it.”

But you know they don’t have that sensitivity quotient (SQ) to go the extra step and I have to share it with them. Today, all of our young people are growing up with their headphones. They have become insensitive to the things around them. This is something we need to train our young people.

I love watching kids being here because all of you are going to interact with them. They will learn from you and create a change. Go into TEDx NTU and see sensitivity quotient (SQ).

You can also ask yourself, what are the examples you can use to train your staff to be sensitive and provide the best service above and beyond for your customers?

One of the most exciting things about business is the potential to find incredible success at any age, in any industry.

All it takes is determination, resilience, a plan and an unwavering desire to achieve your goals.

Michelle Young is one entrepreneur who has never let the small things get in the way of her big plans. As the founder of POP UP Cosmetics, she has experienced considerable success by sharing cut-price cosmetics with a market of eager buyers.

ULTIMATE MARKETING CHECKLIST

149 Steps to Marketing Perfection. What’s your score?

Michelle started POP UP Cosmetics with just one ‘travelling’ store. Now, she is running four concurrent sales across Sydney Metro and has plans to expand nationally. Her business has grown from one staff member to 17 over this period of time. Thanks to her innovative business model, Michelle’s company was also named as a State Finalist in the Telstra Business Awards.

Here’s a Q&A on Michelle’s journey and her best-practice secrets to small business success:

What do you love most about running a business?

For me, business is about having a creative outlet and being strategic. I love waking up each morning and being creatively inspired, knowing we can introduce any element to the business to make it a better experience for our customers and create growth for the company.

My mind is easily stimulated and I am never short of ideas. It is the lack of time to implement the ideas that frustrate me the most!

Each day, the team at head office and I work on strategy and growth. We have a constant focus on our customer experience and on delivering quality cosmetics at prices that are affordable to everyone. To keep the business on track to achieve our goals, I have five major projects that I give particular focus to each quarter.

How did POP UP Cosmetics come to be?

POP UP Cosmetics was launched as a retail extension of a wholesale cosmetic company I started 12 years ago called The Cosmetic Department. I started the business after a trip to the United States where I was shocked at how much we pay for cosmetics in Australia in comparison.

We started wholesaling to pharmacies and other retail stores and this has evolved into running POP UP Cosmetic sales across Sydney. At the pop-up sales, we open up our wholesale prices to the public and make brand name cosmetics available to everyone at up to 85 per cent off normal store prices. Women love getting cosmetics at prices that are not available anywhere else.

How did you hear about Business Blueprint?

I have attended a lot of business development programs over the past 12 years, so when the option to attend 52 Ways appeared on Facebook, I jumped at the chance to learn more skills.

I attended the one-day event and was so impressed, I signed up for my first year of Business Blueprint on the spot.

ULTIMATE MARKETING CHECKLIST

149 Steps to Marketing Perfection. What’s your score?

Why did you decide to join?

To be honest, I did hesitate over joining as I didn’t want to cover the same information that I had already paid for at other business programs, including Tony Robbins Business Mastery.

However, after speaking with one of the consultants, I was re-assured Business Blueprint is like no other business program. I trusted the consultant, and because I was impressed with the level of value that was given on the free day event, I signed up for the program.

Although I have learnt so much at other business programs, Business Blueprint is unique. The program shares practical, hands-on ways to immediately implement what you have learnt into your business.

How has your business changed since joining Business Blueprint?

When I was starting out, I did all the advertising and marketing, however, I now utilise experts in online digital marketing and social media who use highly targeted and specific strategies to help bring customers into our stores. Once you can afford to, it is best to hire trusted experts, so that you can again refocus on further growth strategies.

Through our systems, our social media campaigns and email databases, we are able to grow our customer base by five-ten per cent every week. This brings more and more local customers in-store each time our sale returns.

POP UP Cosmetics has grown very quickly but in a stable and healthy way. As well as being named as a finalist in the Telstra Small Business Awards, we also launched our own private label cosmetics brand, which manufactures high-quality cosmetics to be sold at affordable prices.

What do you like most about the Business Blueprint program?

I love the four-day conferences and the leading edge skills I learn from key experts. This helps me stay informed of the latest technology and the best strategies I should be using in my business.

I also love the expertise of the community group, where there are so many other business owners who can offer their advice and experience for any challenges and situations that arise. Everyone is so helpful and generous with their knowledge.

What is the biggest takeaway from Business Blueprint you would like to share with other business owners?

The most important lesson I have learnt is the power of systems. We have an online operations manual that runs our entire business, both in our pop up stores as well as our head office. Installing this has enabled me to remove myself, hire staff and expand much more rapidly.

What’s your advice to people thinking of joining Business Blueprint?

Joining Business Blueprint is an investment in your business success, which will transform your business into what you have always known that it is capable of. I don’t have any regrets, and I don’t think that there would be a single member who hasn’t expanded their business or regained control of their life through the teachings, practical advice and skills that are taught by Dale and his team.

Do you know what you want out of life, or what makes you happy? Meet Peta Charles. At 29, she realised she didn’t know the answer, and left her feeling uneasy. It led a crazy year where she pushed her boundaries to know what she enjoyed whilst testing her limits. Read her story.

A Leap of Faith

A couple of the crazy things Peta did for charity was jumping off a skyscraper and attempting to walk non stop in a fat suit on a treadmill for 24 hours. She also completed the Kokoda trek in Papua New Guinea with less than 2 months training, joined a circus for the kicks, paraglided around the Himalayas and jumped out of a plane on multiple occasions.

ULTIMATE MARKETING CHECKLIST

149 Steps to Marketing Perfection. What’s your score?

Peta loved every minute of her crazy activities along with amazing travels. But in the end, she still felt unfulfilled and that something was still missing in her life. That’s when she realised that while she knew what her physical limitations were, she had no clue what she was capable of mentally.

At that moment, the idea for Brisbane Town Planning (BTP) was born. “I knew that I had to challenge myself mentally in a big way,” she revealed “and what better way to do it then by stepping out on your own and starting a business with no savings and no business knowledge.”

The Unexpected Journey and Milestones

This year, Brisbane Town Planning will turn 6 years old and Peta wouldn’t change a thing about her journey. There have been some serious challenges, but each one has taught her a massive lesson along the way and brought her to the point where she is at right now. She has tested her mental capability along the way but has yet to reach her mental limits.

In just a few years, Brisbane Town Planning has accomplished some serious milestones:

  • Brisbane Town Planning was one of the top 50 organisations in the country in the Anthill Cool Company Awards.
  • Peta Charles made it to the top 5 finalists in the construction category for the Business News Australia Young Entrepreneur of the year awards.
  • Peta has been approached multiple times with unsolicited buyout offers from competitors.
  • Brisbane Town Planning now creates a weekly Facebook video series that has had well over 250,000 views. Which Peta thinks is hilarious when you consider that these aren’t cat videos, they are videos that talk about construction rules and regulations, which isn’t exactly the most thrilling topic.
  • Peta was asked to be a judge on the second season of a Channel 10 construction focused reality TV show
  • Brisbane Town Planning now has a suite of computer programs that help automate all of their base processes, including drafting applications. Which helps to increase their capacity, speed up their turn around times and reduce the opportunity for human error.
  • Peta now regularly speaks at industry and business events to large groups. Something she would never have dreamt of doing before joining Business Blueprint.
  • Brisbane Town Planning continues to help not for profit community groups via their pro bono arm of the business.

It’s amazing how much Brisbane Town Planning has grown and part of it has been due to the help that Peta got along the way.

A Blueprint for Success

When Peta’s best friend–who started her own business 5-6 years prior–found out that Peta decided to go out on her own, she was ecstatic. She grabbed a notepad and wrote down a massive to-do list, which read something like “On Monday you’ll call this accountant and book a meeting… then you’ll call this logo designer…” The information that Peta was given, set her up on the right path from day one, simplifying and fast-tracking the setup process. “With her help, I was able to get back to a point where I was earning a similar income to my PAYG days within 6 months.”

While sitting in the room one day listening to Dale speak, Peta couldn’t help but see similarities between her friend and Dale. However, instead of offering up 5-6 years worth of knowledge and learnings from one business person, he was offering up countless years of experience from countless business owners through the Business Blueprint program.

Benefits Outweigh the Cost

Like most people, the cost of the 12-month program was a concern. Being less than a year old at that point, Peta didn’t know how things were going to go. She was worried about being able to find money each month and if being in the program was going to be a good return on investment.

After having experienced the benefits that it has brought to her business, Peta would gladly pay the money many times over. When she started Business Blueprint, Peta had one team member, no website and she also did all of the Town planning work manually. After 12 months, she now has four team members (including three VA’s), a website and half of the planning work systemised.

“I would say that the first 2-3 years of being in Business Blueprint was everything I had hoped. Every 6 months in the program saved me 6 years fumbling around on my own in the real world. Now though, Business Blueprint has gone above that. I now get access to content and learnings that I could never have found on my own,” she shared.

Another thing that Peta loved about the Business Blueprint conferences lets her step out of the day to day running of business every three months to re-assess how her business is actually performing, and to kickstart the implementation process.

Peta added, “Also, they say that you are the average of the 5 people that you spend the most time around. BB helps me surround myself with more skilled professionals that help to bring my average up.”

Biggest Learnings

In her business journey, Peta has learned a lot of things that she applied in business and has three that she thinks are worth sharing. These are the three biggest learnings she had so far:

Progress is better than perfection

Peta was the definition of a perfectionist when she started the 12-month program and it was debilitating. Business Blueprint has taught her that there is a lot more value in proceeding with something that is almost perfect, beating the competition, getting feedback and then adapting based on that feedback, than there is in being perfect.

“If it wasn’t for Business Blueprint, I would still be searching for the perfect website with nothing to show.”

Be yourself

When Peta first started out in business, she was told never to put her face out there and to cut the smiley face emojis out of her emails, because clients would run scared if they knew that a young female was in charge. I.e. they wouldn’t trust her, so it was best to give the impression that there was an older person at the reins.

Business Blueprint has taught her that for every person that thinks like that, there is another one who will be naturally attracted to the business because it is run by someone different. As a result, it has taught her to truly embrace her personality, who she is and to let it shine through in everything the business does. “These days our clients know us as being the slightly quirky young chicks that like to do things differently… and I am immensely proud of that reputation.”

The power of delegation

Peta’s perfectionistic ways meant that she ignorantly thought that no one could do it as well as she could. Since joining Business Blueprint, her perception has done a full 180. She went from thinking she would be the only Town Planner to work in the business, to thinking that she can train anyone up to do her work.

Peta now constantly finds herself thinking “will I have to do this task ever again” and if the answer is yes, then she’ll think “how do I write or record instructions so that I never have to do it again”.

ULTIMATE MARKETING CHECKLIST

149 Steps to Marketing Perfection. What’s your score?

The Future of Brisbane Town Planning

When asked about her future plans, Peta declared, “I want BTP to be the Uber of the Town Planning world … just a more subtle/less destructive version. One that brings about a drastic change in the industry whilst flying under the radar.”

“Most importantly though, I want to continue to test my mental limits and I want myself and my team to have fun along the way and enjoy the journey,” she added.

For Peta, Business Blueprint is definitely worth considering especially for those who want to take their business to the next level as she did.

She advised people who want to take their business to the next level with the help of Business Blueprint like she did, to have discipline. This is why she advises those contemplating membership, “ It is easy to get overwhelmed by the smorgasbord of information and opportunities that Business Blueprint provides. To get the most out of it in the shortest period of time, you need to prioritise your to do’s and don’t get distracted by other shiny stuff. You can’t do everything at once, but if you stick to your plan, you will get through everything in time”.

Given many small businesses don’t last more than two years, turning 10 is a huge reason for us to celebrate.

In 2009, Business Blueprint was founded with the goal to provide coaching to small to medium business owners, helping them to bring their business into the 21st century.

ULTIMATE MARKETING CHECKLIST

We have definitely achieved that goal, helping over 20,000 thousand people from Australia and New Zealand to change their lives for the better.

With our help, entrepreneurs, startup founders and established business owners have been able to:

  • Learn the shortcuts to reach more customers
  • Ramp up their sales like never before
  • Scale their business and discover new opportunities
  • Form partnerships for easier wins
  • Leverage social media and online tools for greater efficiency
  • Provide employment opportunities
  • Find more hours in their week to spend with family
  • Enjoy better profits and more financial security

It has been an honour to celebrate the amazing wins of our clients, which have included publishing best-selling books, opening new businesses across the country, stepping away from their daily workload to enjoy more free time and even selling their company for multiple millions of dollars.

Along the way, we have also been privileged to get to know thousands of motivated, inspiring business owners. There are so many wonderful people we now call friends and there is always room for more.

Beyond Business

Over the years, we have learned a lot too!

While our mission has always been to help business owners, we also realised that giving back in other ways was an essential goal for us.

This is why we joined forces with the charity Hands Across the Water in 2012. Each and every year we have opened the opportunity to help too. By taking part in an annual charity bike ride since 2012, we have been able to raise over $2 Million!

This money has gone directly to orphaned children living in Thailand and is the achievement we are most proud of.

Beyond Borders

Business Blueprint is open to members from Australia and New Zealand. However, we have had calls from people as far away as Germany, the UK and the United States. They have requested our help because they have felt stuck and overwhelmed, just like the business owners we meet here at home. Some have even joined the community from afar.

It’s not possible for us to be all over the world at once. To help people in far-flung corners of the globe, we created a purpose-built TV studio and started making unique content.

This content was cleverly integrated into the Bizversity app, which is now available to anyone who has a smartphone. We are always working on new content to share with business owners from around the globe.

Knowledge-thirsty business owners can also dive into the Secrets Exposed series of books, which cover the stories of dozens of successful business owners, sharing their stories and secrets to growing a profitable business or property portfolio.

First published in 2005, this series was a best-seller. We’re still publishing 14 years later with three new titles, which are currently available to order or download.

Beyond Business Blueprint

So, what’s next?

You’ll be pleased to know Business Blueprint is going strong. With so many dedicated members and more knocking on the door each month, we’d be crazy to pull back. Plus, we still can’t get enough of meeting our original goal to help business owners.

But the niggling ‘beyond borders’ question has been bothering us for a while. The fact is, we can’t deliver personal support to people in every state of Australia, let alone the world.

This is why we have launched the Coach@Scale event. As well as helping entrepreneurs directly, Dale is now sharing his knowledge with other business coaches, creating not just more students, but more teachers.

Dale hosted his first Coach@Scale workshop in October 2019, with more to come in 2020.

Beyond Gratitude

Ten years in, the thing we want to say most is THANK YOU.

Every business is only as good as its clients and without the endless support of our members, there is no way we would have achieved so much over the past decade.

We are looking forward to seeing members past and present at our 10th Anniversary Bash on November 9th to celebrate everything we have achieved together.

Here’s to the next ten years of your success and ours!

P.S.
If you want to jump on board for the next 10 years of business adventure, check out 52 Ways, our free 1 Day event that will get you started on the path to success.

Over the course of his career, he has developed the tools, systems and partnerships that accelerate team culture and take organisational strengths to a whole new level.

The organisations and industries Kelvin have shared the secrets and key influences of leadership and team building with include Business Enterprise Centres, Alliance Insurance, Training Services NSW, Samaritans, Catholic Care, and more.

Having been recognised in the top 10 professionals for leadership and Team systems Internationally by Fox, ABS NBC and CBS, and as a #1 best selling author, Kelvin is passionate and motivated to share his experiences and expertise.

Despite his successful career, five years ago Kelvin started looking for support to “find out what I didn’t know”, and came across Business Blueprint.

“It really stood out,” says Kelvin, who joined as a FastTrack member not long after.

Fast-forward to 2019 and Kelvin has one million reasons to be grateful for that decision.

Early Days With Business Blueprint

As Kelvin explains, the first year of his membership was “about planting the seeds.”

“I knew I needed more, but I had to plant the seeds and wait for them to grow.”

The ‘seeds’ Kelvin is talking about include creating cash flow, implementing systems and optimising online so his business was able to run more smoothly and operate without him. The strategies he mastered showed him how to grow his business the smart way, without working more hours or burning out.

Becoming Elite

It wasn’t till Kelvin progressed to become an Elite member that those seeds began to sprout.

“Things took off!” he says.

Over the next five years, the Business Blueprint experience kept getting better for Kelvin. “I love the community and it’s a big part of why I keep coming back,” he shares.

“You start to get some very special relationships and the content becomes more relevant. The longer you stay in the Elite program, the more you learn.”

Kelvin’s Big News

Catching up with our team at a recent conference, Kelvin explained the real payoff of being part of Business Blueprint and continually working to build his business.

“I’ve sold for $1 million!” he smiled, “And the money just hit my bank account.”

As Kelvin explains, “None of this would have happened without Business Blueprint.”

Having learned how to get systems in place for a good return, Kelvin planned a year in advance before selling his business.

“Before I joined, I didn’t know how much I didn’t know,” he says. “I stuck around to expand my mind and I’m pretty excited about where it has led me!”

Thinking of Joining?

From Kelvin’s perspective, joining Business Blueprint and carrying on as an Elite member is a no-brainer.

“FastTrack is great but it’s just the tip of the iceberg. With Elite, you can expand and unleash the full potential of learning, then start to implement.”

As Kelvin explains, things don’t really start to happen until the second or third year. His advice: “Stop thinking about it and just do it!”

One of the most incredible things about success in this world is that there is no strict path to lead you there.

Just ask Brian Flannelly, who left school at 16 and commenced a steel fixing career. By the age of 22, Brian had travelled and worked all over the world, encountering situations his peers still at university could only imagine.

Brian found himself in Australia after a few years of travel and founded his own business at the fresh age of 24. “I started my business (Carrabay Reo) because I knew I had great value to add to my industry,” says Brian. “At the time I was radiant with confidence, so went for it.

ULTIMATE MARKETING CHECKLIST

149 Steps to Marketing Perfection. What’s your score?

Goals have always featured in Brian’s professional journey. “I read a book called “The Secret” and it was pretty much my initiation into self-belief and a strong mindset.” As well as wanting to start his own business, Brian had ambitions to buy his mother a house – something he achieved in 2015.

Highs and lows

Despite his self-belief, Brian experienced some challenging times as a business owner and at one stage reached the brink of liquidation.

“I pumped all my money into my very first contracted project and lost everything. It was $46k, and the builder went bust exactly on the 60th day when he was supposed to pay me. I was building up my cashflow the previous eight months to that project, working 80+ hours a week in a tunnel, only to lose it all on my very first contract job,” says Brian.

“To say I was devastated would be an understatement!”

Undeterred, Brian worked 15 hour days for a further 60 days on another project, with next to no labour helping him. “I got paid $70k after the first 60 days. It was like a million dollars to me at the time.”

Fortunately, Brian had some loyal people stay with him as he pulled his business out of a hole. In the 12 months following that event, his business turned over close to $2 million.

Joining Business Blueprint

In 2017, a relative of Brian’s recommended he go to 52 Ways, calling him to say it was the best business development workshop he had ever been to.

Taking the advice, Brian went along to Business Blueprint’s free one day workshop and signed up as a paid member by 11 am that day.

“I suppose I was uneducated academically and also in business. Four years ago, I could barely string an email together without using text lingo,” admits Brian.

“I had no idea about systemising, processes and procedures, and I had a lot to learn to say the least. I saw the value in Business Blueprint from day one and have never looked back since. Carrabay Reo didn’t even have a website, so I was in dire need of help!”

Transforming his business

Since joining Business Blueprint, Brian has built his company around a $3 million turnover per year with healthy profits.

“A complete revamp is another understatement. We had crazy paper systems in the early days to give an indicator of how bad it was. Since then, I have networked and worked with maybe 10 consultants who are apart of Business Blueprint to build the business to what it is now.”

Brian now has around 25 full-time staff and up to 35 with contractors, and he is set to launch a new manufacturing division to his business.

In his words, Business Blueprint has “genuinely changed my personal, and professional life, from the people I’ve met, the strategies I’ve implemented and sincerity from the BB team that continues to deliver great content and value to my business.”

“A big one recently is we signed a $1 million project with a tier one company for supply and install. This wasn’t forecasted to happen for another couple of years. So next financial year we have 25% of our average turnover locked in already.”

“It’s going to be a big year, and I’ve never felt as ready for anything in my life.”

Spreading the word

Brian tells anyone who will listen to join Business Blueprint and notes that even those who aren’t inspired to sign up still come to him for business advice.

To those who want to grow a business which delivers the lifestyle they love, Brian’s advice is simple: to, “Invest in yourself and your education”.

“I have personally learned that I was an overachiever in my mind and in reality would underachieve. I would get annoyed with myself when I couldn’t deliver a million projects when I wanted to. The fact of the matter is business is difficult, and we are not invincible. So what I feel works for me (and this is very recently figuring this out), is to set realistic goals, go easy on myself, be grateful as much as possible, bathe in the wins and remember: there is plenty of time.”

Summary

“I love the Tony Robbins quote ‘People overestimate what they can do in a year and underestimate what they can do in 10’. A little over 10 years I got pretty much got kicked out of school and left home. So I haven’t done bad to get to this point!”

Despite a successful corporate career, Kacie La never felt fulfilled. The money was fine but working sixty hour weeks just wasn’t cutting it!

After returning to her job from maternity leave and commuting for three hours each day, Kacie realised enough was enough. Walking away from her comfortable, six-figure job, she began selling natural skin care supplies on eBay.

Fast-forward just a few short years and Kacie is now the owner of a wholesale company which is turning over 7 figures in revenue, with 10 full-time employees. She stocks over 260 lines of raw, natural ingredient products and has nearly 50,000 customers on her database.

N-essentials Aromatherapy and Essential Oils now gives Kacie the flexibility to do whatever she wants, whenever she wants, and she only works the hours she chooses.

Even with such incredible success, Kacie realised she could continue to improve efficiency, systems and profits. This led her to join Business Blueprint.

“In late 2018, I saw that one of my friends, who had recently started her own business, had ‘liked’ Business Blueprint’s 52 Ways ads. I half-heartedly decided to rock up to the 52 Ways one-day workshop in Nov 2018, just to see what was on offer”.

“I didn’t get my hopes up as my previous experiences with business education and business coaches were not up to my expectations and/or weren’t relevant to my online business. But by the end of the 52 Ways workshop, I was greatly inspired and motivated by the cutting edge content that was so relevant to my niche e-commerce business so I signed up for the 12-month program”.

Initially, Kacie felt some concerns about the cost of the 12-month program but she could see there was more than enough valuable, practical content to justify the cost in the long-term.

In the early months of being a member, Kacie has implemented systems in her business which remove room for errors, enables business processes to be outsourced and frees up so much time. Perhaps the biggest change has been diversifying N-essentials’ marketing investments for long-term sustainability, instead of just heavily investing in SEO marketing.

The N-essentials product range

With the insights she has gained from Business Blueprint, Kacie is set to further grow her customer base. The audience she works with are interested in organic, natural skincare and appreciate Kacie’s insights as a mother to children who have sensitive skin and allergies.

Her top sellers include:

In addition, N-essentials offers raw ingredients for those with skin conditions who wish to make their own products. Buyers can also access essential oils, body care base products, product packaging solutions.

From strength to strength

Outwardly, most would consider Kacie a successful business owner who doesn’t need the support of a personal business coach and community of other entrepreneurs.

However, the amount of relevant, latest and greatest business education all in one place means Kacie always has “light-bulb moments everywhere I look in the Business Blueprint community, forums and channels”.

“Small businesses who have run out of ideas to grow their business and those who find it hard to keep up with the latest trends in business practices would all benefit from joining Business Blueprint.”

With the guidance she has accessed at Business Blueprint, Kacie has started planning to redevelop her e-commerce website. She has also applied the concept of partnership marketing.

“For many years, we went through the hard yards of (unwittingly) applying the one-to-one service model. I now also appreciate the value of a CRM system and putting together and automating the lead funnel. We’ve got such a rich database that we haven’t optimally nurtured very well in the past but have now started to implement systems for,” explains Kacie.

To find more success with your business and get the most out of Business Blueprint, “you need to be open to new ideas and to be ready to put into practice the concepts and principles that you learn in the program.”

N-essentials now has its own warehouse. With Business Blueprint on its side, the business’s product range and customer-base will continue to grow and bring rewards.

One of the biggest perks of being an Elite Business Blueprint member is our annual conference, which is held at a different overseas destination every year.

We invite all Elite members who have been with Business Blueprint for 2 years or more to attend our conference for a few days of workshopping their business, gaining amazing inspiration from each other and learning from incredible experts across all things business related.

Coming away for conference gives our members some time out from their day-to-day and allows them to set goals and priorities. They can also discover new ways to make their business grow.

In April, 106 Business Blueprint members downed tools to head to Singapore as a bunch of ‘Crazy Rich Australasians’. The theme for our final party night related to the film ‘Crazy Rich Asians’, as Singapore is where last year’s smash hit movie was set.

Some of the highlights of this event included:

At the end of the day, we’re not so crazy. Investing in ourselves and our businesses so we can achieve the knowledge we need to achieve our goals is probably the most level-headed thing you can do. However, reaching for the stars does take a little bit of craziness, especially when people tell you the things you want are impossible.

When it comes to being rich, this is certainly a goal for Elite members at Business Blueprint. The thing is, once you reach a financial level which means your family is provided for and your future is secure, the way you look at wealth tends to change.

We see ourselves as rich in experience, friendship and motivation. For many of us, the ultimate reward of our efforts to grow our business comes from being able to pay other people a living wage and offer them excellent working conditions. Business Blueprint members are also extremely generous, leveraging their business success to pledge thousands of dollars for charity.

Another aspect which is a truly compelling reason to be part of Business Blueprint and attend the international conference is the way ‘Australasians’ is one of the only words that can be used to collectively describe all our members.

We come from all manner of cultural backgrounds, walks of life and industries. From young members who are running their first startup to business veterans who never want to stop learning, we’re a diverse bunch.

The common thread amongst Elite BB members at the conference was the desire to support each other and grow together. The conversations were non-stop in Singapore as members shared tips, offered advice and came up with amazing new ideas.

Each delegate left the conference buzzing with plans for success in the twelve months to come.

We’re already planning next year’s event! Will you be joining us?

“Just a quick note of sincere thanks for all your efforts, input and insights that made last week’s conference such a memorable event for Melissa and I.”

This feedback was shared by Bondi Chai business owners Martin and Melissa Buggy after they attended Business Blueprint’s quarterly conference on ‘Optimising Online’ in May 2019.

For four days, attendees at this event brainstormed, discovered and were walked through the smartest ways to improve their digital presence. This meant learning how to ramp up the design of their website, how to write copy that has the user desperate to buy and how to attract more traffic from Google.

Each strategy shared at the event is practical and doesn’t take hours of time or hundreds of dollars. Many are even free to get started with, for example setting up a YouTube channel and adding your videos to your website (hint: Google loves this!).

As Martin shared after the event, “I was enthralled, entertained, educated and energised throughout the whole four days. Apparently, my Aquarian-ism imbues me with a ‘child-like awe with the world’ so it’s not hard to get my attention, but retaining it – for a whole four days – is another matter! You did an awesome job.”

About Bondi Chai

While many business owners who come to Business Blueprint and our free business workshop 52 Ways are just getting started, there are a number who are well-established businesses.

This is the case for Bondi Chai. The company was established over 15 years ago by Martin and his partner Melissa after they realised there was nowhere in Australia to buy simple-to-use chai latte mix. As the PR and marketing experts shared, “Selling an unknown product with a weird name (“chai what!?”) to an industry we knew nothing about – and that didn’t want to know us – was incredibly difficult, and very frustrating. But we still thought it was a good idea and after three years of persistence our US import began to get some traction.”

“Then came our next major challenge – our US supplier sold their brand and Australia was scratched from the new owner’s plans, leaving us with no chai latte and some very upset customers! It took about one minute to decide to create our own brand but about 12 months to get it ready for launch – in June, 2005 – much of that time being spent on developing our recipes.”

Martin and Melissa have been on quite the journey and now anyone can enjoy a Bondi Chai Latte in places as far apart as Kathmandu and Katoomba, Amsterdam and Armadale, Launceston and London.

Bondi Chai is surfing to success

Despite their business prowess, Martin and Melissa are keen to discover what’s next and to make sure they are on top of the new best practices and technology which are entering the market. This was what led them to 52 Ways.

After attending the free business workshop Martin says, “We signed up, without hesitation, to (Business Blueprint), having never heard of Dale or his programs before.”

Since then, Martin and Melissa have been “Super-impressed with everything we’ve now seen. It’s a genuine pleasure to be a part of the BB team.”

Perhaps what has stood out for the pair is that Business Blueprint’s Dale Beaumont is genuinely interested in each business owner and their goals. He takes the time to speak with everyone who wants a minute of his time and to make a true connection.

Martin describes Dale’s approach as an “Obvious desire to ‘go above and beyond’ in delivering critically important material in a simple, ‘paint-by-numbers’ format.”

Even though he has an established business, Martin can see the value in being part of Business Blueprint. “The conference program itself is outstanding and I would happily recommend membership to anyone – whether already in business or just contemplating the move (e.g. my 30-something kids).”

After their first Business Blueprint conference, the Bondi Chai business-couple is looking forward to the impact that the guidance and help of Business Blueprint will have. This includes on Martin and Melissa’s business and also their lives.
