Last week myself and 50 other courageous entrepreneurs travelled to Thailand to ride 500km in 5 Days to raise money for our partner charity, Hands Across the Water.
The people that joined forces were a mix of our awesome Business Blueprint clients, the incredible Business Blueprint team and even a few of my supportive family. We stuck together and pushed through 40-50 degree days, all in the name of raising much-needed funds.
The ride took the group from Hua Hin (near Bangkok) down South to Khao Lak (near Phuket) through mountains, villages, coastal beaches, towns and national parks. A beautiful location to do a beautiful thing for the orphanages that Hands Across the Water supports.
We also ran our partner program, whereby our General Manager, Emma Chase, took family members, their children and colleagues to one of the orphanages which the charity runs, where they spent time with the children and working at the orphanage to provide hands-on support.
What was really incredible, however, was meeting the children that myself and the other riders have worked so hard to raise money for.
On the final day of the ride, we arrived at the Baan Than Namchai home and received a massive welcome from the children who live there. Visiting these kids gave us a first-hand glimpse into exactly how our fundraising dollars are truly making a difference.
I’m so proud and excited to share that this year’s wonderful participants and our many supporters have been able to raise over $285,000.The donations have come from all over Australia and New Zealand and every cent will be put to use, supporting children who were at risk, but now housed in one of the Hands orphanages.
The experience was nothing short of extraordinary and something we’ll remember for years to come. It was a privilege and an honour riding with these selfless, humble and generous human beings, giving up their time, pedalling through blood, sweat and tears (literally) and each raising $5,000 each or more for Hands Across the Water.
