Amy Lyden
Amy Lyden grew up in Las Vegas and studied marketing at the University of Nevada. Amy spent ten years in the travel and hospitality industries in the US, Canada and Australia.
In 1995, Amy got two kittens but was unable to find just the right identification tags for them – she wanted something with more style and personality than was currently available. She had a hunch that other pet lovers would want something different for their beloved pets too – and she was right. Shortly after starting Bow Wow Meow, it was awarded Best New Product at the Annual Pet Industry Trade Show, and today it is a leading producer of fun and functional pet tags. Its products are distributed through more than 1,500 pet shops and veterinary clinics around Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, and sold throughout the world via www.pet-tags.com, an innovative and interactive website designed to help pet owners match their pet’s nametags to their colour and collar.
Bow Wow Meow has won numerous business awards including the 2002 National Telstra Small Business Award and the 2000 NSW Micro Business of the Year Award. Amy was also selected as the 2004 winner of the Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World™ grant, an international organisation that helps female entrepreneurs grow their businesses.
Amy is passionate about helping other women in business and is the Chairperson for the Australian Businesswomen’s Network, and is a regular mentor for the Women in Business Mentor Program run by the NSW Department of State and Regional Development.
Today Amy lives in Sydney with her husband Mark and their two gorgeous cats, Rajah and Champers.
