What would you do if your incredibly cold home came with an astronomical energy bill?
When Lyn Beinat and her husband Maurice realised that their lounge room was emitting almost double the national average in carbon emissions, they knew it was “not ok”. Thermally, financially and ethically – it was “not ok”. They contacted builders and architects for advice on their situation. But when they couldn’t get a satisfactory response, they decided to embark on a journey to retrofit their home.

The Birth of ecoMaster
Lyn and Maurice did extensive research and months of testing. And their hard work paid off. Their home, which they formerly rated 1.5 stars is now a lovely 7.8 stars boasting of very low energy costs and zero carbon emissions. During winters, it is cosy warm with minimal heating. During summers, it is cool with no air-conditioning even when the temperature outside is a blazing 46 degrees.
After retrofitting their home, they realised the impressive standard they had achieved and wanted to share that knowledge with other homeowners. Thus, ecoMaster was born.
Awards Received
According to Lyn Beinat, ecoMaster is a unique business wherein they retrofit buildings to make them more energy efficient. A decade later, it has established itself as a leader in the industry. Lyn’s Energy and Thermal Efficiency Retrofit business has received many awards including the prestigious HIA GreenSmart Professional of the Year, in Parliament House, Canberra, for leadership and professionalism in 2009.
Lyn, however, faced a new challenge. She knew she didn’t have the skillset to run the business efficiently. “If you’re gonna play in the big game, you got to have the skillset to actually play it. And we didn’t have those…” she revealed.
Dale Beaumont
Lyn shares that they went through a number of different coaches in the past. And while they knew what they knew what they were doing wasn’t right, they just couldn’t figure out what to do. She had a million business books and a massive library of stuff that she absorbed. Still, it wasn’t what they needed.
The turning point came when Lyn attended Dale Beaumont’s New Rules of Business, a 1-Day Business Event which has been revamped into the bigger and better 52 Ways. The best 1-Day workshop boasts of world-class content, beautifully presented and a delivery that is highly professional, organised and uplifting.
Lyn discovered there was a whole lot more she had to learn and relearn. So she joined Dale’s Business Blueprint program, which offered her the resources she needed to take her business to a massive growth rate.
Complete Revolution
When Lyn became a Business Blueprint member, her business underwent a complete revolution. They started to market ecoMaster online and sent out newsletters. She shares how one particular newsletter got an astonishing 900 personal responses, proof of how much it touched the core of their client base.
They also launched a program called My Green Home wherein they work with a community group. The group sends out information to their members, and if interested they can subscribe to the program.
Lyn acknowledged how everything she learned helped her run her business cost effectively, “My Green Home Program lives because of the Blueprint technology that we’ve been taught.”
She also attests to the confidence and skills you gain from becoming a becoming a Business Blueprint member. She particularly loves the how.
“The support is just phenomenal.”
