It seems like months ago now that myself, my team and 60+ of our clients rode 500km across Thailand to raise much needed funds for our partner charity, Hands Across The Water.
Our last update mentioned that we had raised approximately $400k+ for the charity on this year’s ride alone. Which means that we have raised over $1 Million over the past few years which is an inspiration and is absolutely incredible.
What you may not have known is that one of our riders, Bernadette Janson, who has been a client of ours for many years and is the Founder and Head Renovator at The School of Renovating, contributed an awesome $120k towards our funds raised, which brought us to a total of $470k raised for the Peter Baines founded charity.
How did Bernadette raise such a huge amount of funds for HATW? Well, Bernadette used her skills and business to make this happen, because together with some of her clients, and a lot of humble and generous volunteers, including our very own client Sean Hersee from SAGE Painting among many, many others, renovated this Surry Hills apartment and sold it for a massive profit thanks to Belle Property’s Con Fotaras and Simon Fletcher.
It was Margaret Mead who once said “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” and this has to be a prime example of what this truly means.
I’m so proud and impressed at what we all achieved together that I wanted to share this with as many people as I can. Thank you to all the riders, families, supporters, people who donated funds and auction items, the HATW and Tour de Asia team, and of course all of those who cheered us on from the sidelines.
We look forward to doing it all again next year and raising more funds and awareness to see these kids live the life they truly deserve.
