Is your website clear, consistent and performing well? How does it measure up? While there’s plenty of grading tools available, here is one easy-to-use tool I highly recommend you use. It’s called Website Grader. This tool will instantly identify problem areas and give you recommendations to fix the issues.
How Website Grader Works
When you go to the website, you put in your URL or your domain name. For example, I put in BusinessBlueprint.com.au. If you want, you can also put in your email address, but that’s optional. Once you put in your domain name, click on the “Grade my website” button, then wait for about 10 seconds. A bunch of robots would be assessing your website, then it effectively generates a report saying how good or bad your website is based on a number of different factors.
Is Your Website Performing Well?
When I did this a little while back, the score that I got was 84 out of 100. The report informed me where I was doing well, and where I needed to improve in terms of my website. It grades the website in a number of different areas. Like the website’s performance, how mobile friendly it is, how some SEO factors are incorporated in the website and the level of security. If you have good security in place to stop your website from being hacked.
I got four good marks in terms of mobile performance, SEO, and website security. The thing that I needed to improve was the performance and loading speed of my website. That’s because I’ve got quite a lot of information on the actual homepage of the website. I’m looking forward to simplify that a little bit, and to make it even faster to load.
Learn which Areas of Your Website Needs Improvement
Again, you go to website.grader.com, put in your URL, click a button to test your website, wait about 10 seconds, then check your report online. You can see the overall performance of your website, and how it has been performing in different areas. If you scroll down the page, it breaks down those areas that you need to fix on your website in order to improve its actual performance. Whether it may be on website security, SEO factors, mobile friendliness, and how mobile friendly it is.
Website Grader gave me suggestions on how to improve the performance of my website. I got full marks in mobile friendliness. I also scored well in terms of SEO; page titles, meta tags, heading, site map. If there are some areas that need improvement, it will tell you how you can fix it. Then you can also print off your report if you like.
Do You need to be Technical to Understand how Website Grader works?
This tool is very useful because it makes it really simple for a non-technical person to get a benchmark score of their website’s performance. Then if you’re going to get a website developer to do some work on your website, rather than just saying, “Can you improve my website?” You can tell them what specific areas you want to improve. Then you’ve got a way of checking if they actually did the work or not. You can set the tasks for them, then log back in a week or two later to do another test. Hopefully, a lot of those red marks have turned to green, and your score has gone up. I’ve given you a screenshot demo of Website Grader and how it works. Now we’re going to start to wrap up this video.
